Restaurants in St. Albans: Nando’s

If you’re looking for peri-peri style bbq’ed chicken in St. Albans, your only options are the take-away on Victoria Street (just past Lattimore Road) or Nando’s.

This new outlet of the Nando’s chain serves the usual Portugal inspired Peri-Peri style chicken with “sidelines” including fries, corn on the cob and coleslaw. They also do a selection of vegetarian items, including a very good veggie burger with cheese and pineapple.

If you’re going to eat in, ask to be seated upstairs where the decor is a modern and stylish take on an African theme.

But if you don’t have small children be warned – as one of the more child friendly restaraunts in St. Albans city centre, you risk being overwhelmed (as one often is in the nearby St. Albans Starbucks) by babies, toddlers and kids. On a Saturday visit we counted no fewer than 8 out of the 10 occupied tables had a pram, pushchair or highchair next to them. Nevermind, you wouldn’t really want someone to see you eating with your hands on a first date anyway, would you?!
