Located on Sopwell Lane, the Hare and Hounds is just a few minutes walk from the centre of St. Albans yet is very different than most pubs in that it’s menu is almost entirely made up of local produce, game and meats. The beer selection isn’t bad either and, despite initial appearances, there is a large beer garden out back.
The Hare and Hounds has undergone recent renovation – if you haven’t been in a while you’ll be surprised by how comfortable, friendly, and stylish this pub has become. A real find…

We recently enjoyed a very nice lamb roast on a Sunday lunch. The place is indeed very cosy and the staff most attentive. Book ahead to avoid disappointment; we had the last pieces of lamb at around 2 pm.
