Hatfield House Country Show – Cancelled
Unfortunately, the much anticipated Hatfield House Country Show (17 – 19 Aug. 2007) has been cancelled. Details in the press release below:
It is with much regret that we have taken the decision to cancel the Hatfield House Country Show on 17th – 19th August 2007
The Department of Food Environment and Rural Affairs (Defra) has imposed a `national movement ban’ of animals including to and from shows, which is unlikely to be lifted before the event.
Livestock are the essence of the Hatfield House Country Show. It would not work without them. We are sorry to disappoint our visitors who were looking forward to this year’s show but feel we have no alternative.
Visitors who have pre-booked tickets to the Country Show will have two options. Either they can use them for admission to Hatfield House, Park and Garden until the end of September or they can return their tickets for a full refund.
Exhibitors and the many organisations who work so hard behind the scenes to make Hatfield House events so successful have all been notified.
Lord Salisbury comments: “Foot and Mouth disease is a curse which we must deal with as quickly and effectively as possible. It is a cruel blow to all those who have worked so hard to prepare for this year’s Hatfield House Country Show, especially our dedicated Estate staff. However, the Chief Veterinary Officer had no option but to impose the movement ban.
The Hatfield House Country Show will be back in 2008, bigger and better than ever as a place where town meets country.”
