St. Albans Building Used for BBC Filming

Submitted by Robin Hamman on October 29, 2007 – 13:102 Comments

Back in February 2006 we spotted a Wizard being filmed on top of the disused office block on the Evershed Printworks site.

We didn’t realise it at the time, but that Wizard was a character in the  Angel Summoner sketch which forms part of the BBC’s "That Mitchell and Webb Look".

The Evershed Printworks site, on the edge of St. Albans city centre, is currently owned by Tesco and there is a spirited local campaign trying to stop the company building a superstore on the site.

I went into this building last year and its really fantastic. It would make an excellent museum. Part of it is made from reclaimed building materials from the original Eversheds building in Bow, London and you can still see the shrapnall in it from when it got blown up in the war! it really would be a shame to demolish it.
