Video: A Walk in the Rain to Old Gorhambury House
This is a 9 1/2 minute video was originally streamed live from my cameraphone as I walked around Old Gorhambury House. You’ll see sheep, a house purposefully ruined to create a pleasant folly to viewed from the windows of it’s replacement (in the 1770s), a peahen (I think) and a pheasant. Riveting stuff.
It’s about an hour to 1 1/2 hours walk, along a paved road through rolling fields, from the Roman Amphitheatre to this ruin and back. Entrance is free, £2 if you also want to see the Amphitheatre.
I also shot 14 minutes of video as I walked from the Wafflehouse in St. Michaels Village up to the Roman Amphitheatre and through the gates.

Never made it up here. Have always thought I might give it a try when the ‘new’ house is open too. But never quite got around to figuring out when that is exactly!
Thursdays apparently. If my memory serves me correctly, it’s from like 2 until 5pm on Thursdays from May until September.
If you want to play it safe (ie. don’t fully trust my memory) go in June or July, on a Thursday at like 3pm.
