Was with the family in Prezzo in early March 2009.
Service was half mine and half theirs. Let me explain. Half the time there was no service so, I had to go up to the counter for table settings e.g. fork and knives then, drinks, food, etc. Wrong food turned up to make my visit more memorable
Then there was only 2 staff plus a manageress in the whole restaurant which was filling up fast. Long wait to take orders, to serve drinks, food, pay the bill etc. I had to go to the counter and was told that I could return to my seat and I will be serve…the manageress is totally oblivious to all the customers waiting for long periods. Kinda, having long breaks for your orders, drinks, food, and even for the forks and knives.
There was no apology from the staff for all the gaff and confusion and delays. Some service huh?
This is not the 1st time I have this experience there. So, can anyone who work in the restaurant business explain why a chain restaurant like Prezzo such a disappointment? Has anyone had the same experience?

I arranged to meet some friends for lunch at Prezzo last week and discovered that it has closed down. It is being rebranded – “Meatpackers”, I think.

Yep – we went to Meatpackers the other day on a whim. Was surprisingly busy, but there were lots of staff and the food was good and came quickly. Does pretty much what it says on the tin ;-)
Is it part of a chain?

Meatpackers should be named Meatpickers. Ordered a Cheese Steak sandwich – £10 and more than 1oz of meat in there. Bread not fresh either. Response from waitress when I mentioned this? “Oh well, next time try one of our burgers”.
Have heard similar reviews. Can’t see them lasting long.

Visited Meatpackers this week. Will not be going back. Not very busy but the popcorn shrimp started took about 45 minutes to arrive !!!! and tasted of nothing at all…my friend had the iceberg lettuce starter and having eaten a quarter of it cut into the other quarter only to see loads and loads of aphids inside the lettuce (so obviously they dont look closely at the food they are preparing and definatley dont wash and clean it !!!). Called the waitress over and she apologised, we saw her take it back to where the food is cooked (open plan cooking area) and the “chef” just shrugged his shoulders !!!!, so the waitress said they wouldnt charge us for the one starter and we could have a free drink on the house….whoopy do !!!!….the main course eventually arrived….but the whole lunch took about 95 minutes !!!!!…..not impressed…
