Contacting St. Albans Blog
St. Albans Blog contains information and independent reviews about living, shopping, eating and drinking in St. Albans.
It’s authored primarily by a man in his 30’s who moved to St. Albans in around 2003.
Occasionally other local bloggers author guest contributions which is really quite nice of them.
Where posts speak of a “we”, it’s usually just an attempt to make it sound like this isn’t a one man show or, in some instances, may allude to my wife and small children having been with me at the time.
I review places I visit, services I use, things I want to highlight. It’s totally hit and miss with the reviews being notes about my experiences which may be very different from the experience you have. Where the two don’t match up please do feel encouraged to post a comment.
No cash or favours have ever been offered or received in exchange for inclusion on St. Albans Blog. That said, I’d be happy discuss advertising – but, if I subsequently review your business, will have to include a transparency statement mentioning that I’d previously taken your cash.
Traffic has grown significantly since launch in March 2007. In an average month over the last year, the blog had monthly traffic of 4500 unique visitors generating over 7000 page views. That’s around 275 page views per day – not bad I reckon.
If you want to get in touch for any reason – to ask a question, discuss advertising here, to share some content or write a guest post – the email is info@stalbansblog.co.uk
Oh, and here are those stats…

Hello,
I am trying to contact Lisa, a hairdresser who works independently (used to work in Greys a few years ago where she cut my hair). I had her number but lost it and need a good haircut (having just suffered a couple of disasters). I would really appreciate it if you could let me know how to get hold of her business number.
No idea, sorry! Have you tried phoning the shop?
Hiya, never written to a blog so I don’t know if this is the right place to do this. thanks for a great blog.Wondering if you have tried the wonderful new cafe on George Street called Secret Garden Cafe? It’s on the Abbey side of the street through an arch (green I think), about half way down. Lovely little place with great coffee and fresh home-made food. It’s locally owned and staffed by really friendly people. They showcase local artists (currently little paintings by “Lucky Dolan – really!) that are lovely and not expensive! Hours of the cafe seem a bit limited tho as it is only open 10-4, I believe. It’s a little oasis.
I have to agree with Pegalita it’s a lovely friendly cafe. If you want to see what it looks like I a recently wrote a post about it on my blog. http://www.pompomemporium.com/content/the-secret-garden-cafe-st-albans
Does St Albans have anywhere to get your car washed? Preferably a hand car wash? I’m struggling to find any on Google and haven’t come across any when walking around the city.
Hi there,
I’m in the process of re-designing the St Albans Fencing Club website (http://www.sa-fc.org.uk) and as part of the process I have setup a blog.
Is there any chance that you could add a link to our blog? I can certainly add a link to your blog which will include it with some of the other St Albans websites that we are linking to.
Regards,
Liam
Re: Greg K – I use the hand car wash at Homebase in the Abbey View retail park (bottom of Holywell hill). A bit less pricey, a d exterior only, try the hand car wash service at the neighbouring Sainsbury.
Have found a new place for the St Albans blog to try out… A new Thai takeaway has opened on Hatfield Road called Omsin – my wife & I have had a couple of meals from there and have been really impressed – far nicer than the Thai restaurants we’ve eaten at in town.
Check it out! They deliver too I think so perfect even if you don’t live that close.
Hi there,
I was wondering if the St Albans blog would like to try out British Military Fitness (www.britmilfit.com) which takes place in Verulamium Park, St Albans every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
This is a great way to get fit in the great outdoors and everyone’s first class is FREE!

Hi
You and your readers should know about Transition St Albans. http://transitionstalbans.org
It’s a new group that we’re all going to be hearing a lot more about. They’re part of the Transition Towns movement, that works at grassroots level to find ways to respond to the challenges of climate change and peak oil.
They showed an inspiring film about the movement, last night at the Maltings.
You can follow their plans, and get involved, through their website.
I will also be commenting on my blog, http://greenstalbans.blogspot.com
Thanks
Simon Grover
Is there anyone out there who knows about any fledging political groups in or around St A? The mainstream parties seem to have nothing to offer – only parroting each others views on immigration, the war in Afghanistan, the utter inequity of British society and bloody banks of course.
Can we do nothing about it?
Congratulations on providing a good local resource, and great to see the links to so many St Albans bloggers. Will be very happy to write a guest post for the blog (walking and food are my topics), and would appreciate my own blog 501 Places (about travel but with occasional St Albans features included) being added to your list.
Keep up the good work
Andy Jarosz
Hi there,
I am a webmaster of a few sites that sell products related to Christmas e.g. gifts, cards etc. I came across your blog & I must say it is a very impressive one. The blog posts are great sources of information & a delight to read. I would like you to write blog posts on some of the products that I sell on my website. These could be reviews, descriptions or your personal opinions/take on them. I will provide you with links to include in the same. Kindly let me know your charge/quotation for getting these live on your blog. I would provide content as well if you need the same for the blog post.
Let me know if you have any queries & reply as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Ketakil
