I don't mean to be a party pooper but this whole affair was really poor in my opinion.
The "Christmas" market had very little Christmas substance to it... in fact I think the Kashu stall selling Mulled wine was about the only thing that had anything to do with Christmas.
The "spectacular" that was the lights tunring on was also very poor... the few people in the DJ/meat van could barely be seen by most and when the light's turned on the crowds could only physically see a few and plenty of others (the one's down towards Holywell Hill and down Victoria street for example didn't even come on.
I'm no expert here are things I would like to see (or at least thought about for) next year
* Having a market selling things with a more Christmas-esq feel (nice wooden decorations/cards/mince pies/etc)
* Perhaps a Santa's grotto rather than a "haunted house"
* Having the VIPs (the mayor, the DJ, the young lady from TV) up on the town hall balcony so that more of the audience can see them
* have some real nice lights around where the crowds are gathered... this may make the whole "switch on" more spectacular
* actually turn all the lights on.
Well there's my thrupence... I hope that some of these things can at least get the organisers thinking for next year.
