St. Albans Abbey to Host Charity Remembrance Service

Submitted by Robin Hamman on November 13, 2009 – 15:16No Comment

From a press release sent by the Abbey:

Following a huge public turnout in 2008, St. Albans' historic Abbey Church is to hold the second Remembrance and Thanksgiving Service for the lives of lost loved ones.

This will be the second annual Remembrance and Thanksgiving service, after the event packed out the St. Albans Abbey in November 2008. Around 1000 local people attended the service and around 300 released balloons outside the Abbey Church in remembrance of a loved one.

"It was a pleasure to welcome so many to last year's service" said the Rt. Revd. Christopher Foster, The Bishop of Hertford, "there was a sense both of solidarity and of intimacy as we remembered loved ones".

This year's service, organised by the Cathedral Ecumenical Chaplaincy and local bereavement charity, The St. Albans Bereavement Network (SABN), is due to be held at 3.00pm on Sunday 22 November 2009.
