Historic Photos of St. Albans in the Late 1800s
Today I came across some fascinating historical images of St. Albans, many of which have probably never been seen by the public. The images, mostly taken in the late 1800s, include street scenes, photos of the Clock Tower, the Abbey whilst being restored, St. Peter’s Church and many other local sites of interest.
Andy Lawrence, who has been painstakingly researching the age and scenes within the images, told me the story of how they came into his possession for an article I’ve now posted on St. Albans People.
It’s a great story – the photos, which Andy has shared with us as well as posting them on flickr, could so easily have been lost forever….
