The St. Albans Beer Festival 2011 kicks off this Wednesday at St. Albans Arena.

The Government has created a tool that makes it possible to view public assets – parks, buildings, disused space, etc – based on postcode. I didn’t find any surprises when I looked at central St. Albans, but there could be some interesting finds I missed… have a look: http://publicassets.communities.gov.uk/

St. Albans Festival

The St. Albans Festival, which runs from the 18 June until the 3rd of July, kicked off yesterday with a rain soaked Festival Pilgrimage in the park and performances by a number of bands.

Between the downpours I could hear it all from the dryness of my livingroom but lets hope not everyone was put off as it should have been a great day…

Herts County Show

The annual Herts County Show is this Bank Holiday weekend. We go every year – although the ticket prices aren’t cheap, it is a great day out for the whole family. There’s equestrian, animal shows and of course awards for best farm animals/flowers/vegetables. It’s the premier countryside focused event in the calendar, which brings out farmers, posh country pile owners and us city folk in large numbers.

Watercress Wildlife Association Fundraiser Today

If you’re not familiar with Watercress, it is a wonderful wildlife preserve hidden away at the bottom of Cornwall Road and Riverside Road. Childwickbury Art Fair

We spent much of Sunday at the Childwickbury Art Fair, held on the Kubrick family estate a few miles outside St. Albans. Although there was serious art on display, some of it for sale, the event offers a really fun day out for families, and threw all sorts of unexpected – but welcome – twists our way.
